CAPABILITIES
The MMAT is intended to provide a full-spectrum Medical Service, to include General Practitioner, Pharmaceutical and Dental Care
These include:
Diagnostic facilities: Ultrasound, X-ray, ECG, laboratory and instruments for eye, ENT, gynecological check-up etc.
Curative health care: prescription and medicines for common ailments
Minor Surgical Procedures: primarily ENT, pediatric & gynecology-obstetrics
Research: developing a profile and
analysis of the health issues in local areas. The health profile should
include age, gender, type of employment and location-specific data.
This will allow communities to make informed decisions on local health
policy.
Telemedicine: the use of electronic
audio, visual and data communications to help with health care
diagnosis, consultation and treatment. It also can be used to educate
patients and to transfer medical data.
Educational and awareness programs.
The MMAT has a wide range of audiovisual equipment that can be used in
a variety of settings – ranging from a school hall to a church.
COMPOSITION
A typical MMAT consists of the following specialist personnel
Physician (Team Leader)
Pharmacist (Assistant Team Leader)
Dentist
Paramedic
Nurse Practitioner
Technician: Medical Equipment/Radiologist
Technician: Communications/Computer
VEHICLES
The MMAT has 2 vehicles, both based on a Ford 550 chassis
Mobile Medical Unit (Surgical/Nursing)
Mobile Medical Unit (Lab/Pharmacy)
Note: although the MMAT can function without additional support, it is
frequently attached to either a Local Emergency Response Team or a
Survey Team
